Lake Norman Monster Sightings
I grew up off of Largo Place in Cornelius. I would swim in the lake all the time. You could see the dam from our house. We would swim at night a lot. One night, me and my next door neighbor’s granddaughter were swimming. There were no boats out and something jumped and made the biggest waves I have ever seen in the lake. I never went back in after that.
I was on a boat wen a huge force from below knocked me over board. the water so colder then anything in my life. I got back on to my boat wen i saw a Nessie like sea monster swimming away from me. it looked about 15 feet long.
I was reeling in a bass and I went to pull it on to the boat and a thing, monster (Normie) ate my fish. I waited around to see it again but it never resurfaced.
I was on my paddle board when the water made a ripple. It was winter so no one was out on the lake but me. I looked closer into the murky water and saw a faint image of a big unusual fish.
What you have is a breeding population of alligator gar! They attain lengths of 10 plus feet, weigh up to 300 plus pounds…
I was on a jetski a few weeks back when i first moved down here with my girlfriend and while we were out on the lake, we both saw a large body come to the surface.
The dang fish looked dang 200 pounds!!! He come up out of the water and showed me his teeth.
I just moved here and never heard of anything unusual in the lake. But in the 6 months I have been here I regularly see strange wakes on the surface of the water…
I saw a large wave off the cove right at sunset. No boats were around.
After reading about the Lake Norman Monster in a new book, “Monsters of North Carolina”, I convinced my husband that we needed to head out to look for this amazing creature which the writer claims has been there longer than the lake.
